"is visonic dome right for me?"
Here are some quick answers to the questions we get most often.
general questions.
What's visonic dome?
Visonic Dome is an ultrasonic contact lens cleaner. It’s designed to clean your contact lenses so you don’t have to.
How does it work?
Visonic Dome works in just 3 easy steps:
- Fill the chamber with your preferred disinfecting multipurpose solution.
- Insert your contact lenses in the labeled Left and Right baskets.
- Push the button.
An automatic timer shuts off the unit when the cleaning is completed.
What makes it better than my current cleaning method?
Imagine having contacts that feel brand new every time you wear them.
If you’re like most contact lens wearers, you probably aren’t cleaning your contacts correctly. The problem is that dirty contact lenses are uncomfortable. They irritate and can often be very painful.
Here are some unique benefits of the Visonic Dome that you should know:
- More comfortable contact lenses with the push of a button.
Cleaner contacts are healthier and feel fresh every time. - Ditch the extra chemicals.
Keep using your basic multipurpose solution and get super clean lenses without any extra effort. - Save time and money.
Getting cleaner, healthier contact lenses is finally as easy as storing them for the night.
Does Visonic Dome work with my contact lens type?
Yes. Visonic Dome works with all contact lens types. That includes:
- Soft Contact Lenses
- Extended Wear Lenses
- Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses
- Ortho-K
Can I keep using my favorite solution?
Yes. Visonic Dome is designed to work with all Multipurpose Disinfecting Solutions (MPS). It’s not, however, made for use with hydrogen peroxide or saline solutions. Use the MPS that your eyecare professional recommended to you.
Will the Visonic Dome work in my country?
Yes. Visonic Dome works globally, no matter your voltage standard.
Have I seen this somewhere before?
It’s certainly possible!
Visonic Dome debuted at Vision Expo East, 1989, and was sold for many years as “LenSoClean” from the offices of thousands of independent optometrists across the USA.
The original device was created and sold by my father and his company, Alpha Vista.
Today, I’m bringing back his original design for a limited run on Kickstarter as a celebration of the 32 year anniversary of LenSoClean. It’s now made with updated electronic components and improved assembly methods, but it’s otherwise the same design.
technical questions.
How does ultrasonic cleaning work?
Imagine a sound speaker in a hi-fi stereo system playing fast music at full blast – underwater. If you can picture in your mind the way that the speaker vibrates, that’s basically what an ultrasonic cleaner does.
Those vibrations create millions of microscopic bubbles that blast away all the dirt on your contact lenses.
Will it damage my contact lenses?
No. Ultrasonic cleaning is less abrasive than the traditional rubbing method of cleaning contact lenses. That means the risk of tearing your lenses while cleaning them is greatly reduced.
Furthermore, the Visonic Dome operates at 63 kHz, a frequency specially chosen to be tough on dirt, but gentle for contact lenses.
How long is the cleaning cycle?
Visonic Dome has a built-in timer that runs for 10 minutes. After the cleaning cycle has finished, the device automatically shuts off and your contact lenses are perfectly clean.
Be sure to follow the disinfecting instructions on the label of your preferred solution.
Does ultrasonic cleaning really work?
Yes, it does. In fact, we sent the Visonic Dome to Ora Clinical Research and Development (the world’s leading ophthalmic research organization) and they found that the Visonic Dome is as effective in cleaning contact lenses as the leading enzymatic solution.
How does the Visonic Dome compare with other devices?
The power of the ultrasonic transducer that we use in the Visonic Dome is often 3x that of other devices you can find for sale online. Other devices try to cut costs on their ultrasonic transducers and use under-powered components that ultimately only shortchange you.
Beyond the superior ultrasonic power, Visonic Dome is easier to use (there’s only one button and no extra settings), is clinically tested in a trusted laboratory, and has all of the necessary government certifications for safe use, worldwide.
How big is the visonic dome?
The Visonic Dome has a diameter of 6 cm (2.3 in).
That’s half an inch smaller than an American baseball.
It weighs 90g (3.2 oz.), which is less than the newest iPhone.
What's the Visonic Dome made out of?
The outershell of the Visonic Dome is made of Polycarbonate – a durable, high-quality plastic.
The inner chamber is made of medical grade stainless steel.
Does it come in any other color?
The ‘standard’ Visonic Dome features a minimalist white shell and my dad’s trademark yellow ring. Other colors might make it as Kickstarter “Stretch Goals.”
all about Kickstarter.
What is Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform where people join together to bring creative projects that they care about to life.
How Does Kickstarter work?
Kickstarter is very easy to use. People pledge support for projects that they care about. In return for their generosity, the backer gets a reward for making the project possible.
You can learn more on the Kickstarter website by clicking here.
Why Are You Using Kickstarter?
Kickstarter lets me connect with Visonic Dome users in a way that traditional retail can’t. I’m producing the Visonic Dome as a way of celebrating its long history.
The goal is much more than selling a product. I want to invite you to join me in celebrating my father’s life story. And I’m convinced that the best way to tell you his story is to get his beautiful design into your hands.
Aren't all crowdfunders just scams?
There have been some less than honest crowdfunding campaigns in the past, sometimes run by shady characters. But the vast majority of projects are run by people trying their best to create something unique for the world.
It’s important to note that Kickstarter is not a store. Never pledge more than you’re able to live without. Only back projects that you trust.
hey! I saw this on eBay once! Why should I back it on Kickstarter?
Visonic Dome was sold for many years as the “LenSoClean.” You can still find a few used LenSoClean units for sale on eBay and other websites from time to time. We think the fact that these decades-old devices still work is a great testament to their build quality!
The benefit of backing this Kickstarter instead of buying an old unit is three-fold:
- The new Visonic Dome via Kickstarter is, of course, brand new. Electronic components have advanced in the last 20+ years. The new units will use modern electronics.
- In many cases, the price difference is negligible.
- You’ll be able to celebrate my dad’s anniversary with me! (THANK YOU)
How Will The Kickstarter funds be used?
A lot of work has already been done to get Visonic Dome ready for its last production run. Now I need your support to cover the final costs of tooling. The funds that we raise will be used first and foremost for fulfilling the rewards to all of the backers and getting you a product I know you’ll love.
When do you ship?
Shipping is estimated no later than 8 months after the end of the campaign. Production, manufacturing, and shipment fulfillment are all areas that my dad has decades of experience in. I’m confident I can follow his lead.
Will you ship the Visonic Dome to my country?
Probably. Visonic Dome is made in the USA and will ship to Canada, Europe, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea.
How much will shipping be?
Shipping in the United States is FREE. Outside the USA, shipping charges are as follows:
- $7 for Canada
- $11 everywhere else

What's the top tier?
The top pledge amount is currently $149.
The reward for this pledge is a special, “Industrial Design Edition” – a Visonic Dome with a transparent outer casing to show off the beautiful engineering that’s hidden inside.
Limited to 320 backers.
Why limit rewards to 1,989 backers?
This Kickstarter campaign isn’t about selling a product. It’s about celebrating the story of its creation.
When my father developed his Visonic Dome for CooperVision 32 years ago, it was the first (and smallest) ultrasonic contact lens cleaner ever. Today, it’s still the only such device ever made by a major American eye care company.
Now I’m launching this Kickstarter campaign to recreate that moment and celebrate the achievements of my father.
Can I buy the Visonic Dome after the Kickstarter campaign is over?
No. The only way to get a Visonic Dome is by backing the Kickstarter campaign. You won’t find these on Amazon or anywhere else after the end of the campaign.
